OUR COMMITMENT TO PRIVACY AND OUR PRIVACY PRACTICES

Hopehill is committed to protecting privacy, confidentiality and security of the personal information of our stakeholders. We value the trust of those we deal with and recognize that maintaining that trust requires that we be transparent and accountable in how we treat the information that you provide to us.

Our privacy policies are based on the Ten Privacy Principles from the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Model Code for the protection of personal information and on which the relevant privacy legislation is founded. We have tailored our own ten privacy principles to meet the needs and expectations of our stakeholders.

While we have taken care to ensure that it is accurate and current, we provide no guarantee as to its accuracy. To request a copy of current privacy policies, please contact our office.

PRIVACY PRINCIPLES

Accountability

We are responsible for personal information under our control, including information that has been transferred to a third party. In those cases, we ensure that the third party has comparable privacy safeguards in place.

Purposes

We will state the purpose when collecting personal information. It varies from providing senior housing and delivering its services, to administering employee programs, and to keeping donors informed.

Consent

We will obtain your consent to collect, use or disclose personal information, except where we are permitted by law to do so without it. These circumstances include dealing with a breach of law, or emergencies that threaten a person’s life. Consent may be implied by Hopehill if the purpose for the collection of information would be reasonably obvious to you and is given voluntarily by you for that purpose.

Limits for Collecting Personal Information

Limits for Using, Disclosing and Keeping Personal Information

Your personal information will only be used or disclosed for the purpose for which it was collected. We will not use it for any additional purposes unless we seek your consent to do so. We will not sell your information to third parties.

Accuracy

We will make reasonable efforts to ensure your personal information is as accurate, complete and current as required. We will not be routinely updating information unless it is necessary for the purposes given.

Safeguards

We are committed to the safekeeping of your personal information. We use appropriate security measures for the protection of your personal information.

Availability of Policies and Procedures

We are open about the policies, procedures and practices used to protect your personal information. Upon request, this may be available to you providing it maintains the integrity of our security measures.

Access

You may access your personal information held by Hopehill and we will reasonably accommodate the request. We will not provide access to certain information if it threatens the life or security of another person.
